Hepato-biliary pancreatic surgery unit

- It is noteworthy that this subspecialty of surgery deals with multiple types of diseases such as

  • liver tumors of all types
  • bile duct obstruction with its diffierent causes
  • Bile duct tumors
  • Pancreatic tumors
  • Cysts of liver, bile ducts and pancreas
  • Stones and inflammation of the bile ducts
  • Gall bladder stones
GISC is characterized by its ability to diagnose diseases with the latest diagnostic methods in this field. The center has radiological investigations such as ultrasound, CT scan, and CT angiography. The center also contains ERCP which play a major role in the diagnosis and treatment of This type of diseases. After the diagnosis of such diseases, the center provides therapeutic role depending on the latest medical methods such as:
 
  • The use of interventional radiology in the chemo-embolization of liver tumors
  • Use of interventional radiation for stents insertion to treat bile duct obstruction.
  • Use of ERCP to extract stones and stents insertion to treat bile duct obstruction
  • Surgical intervention using the latest technology in this field by highly experienced surgeons.

The following procedures were conducted in GISC in one year (from 2016 to 2017):

  • 70 partial hepatectomy for the treatment of liver tumors
  • 83 partial pancreatectomy for pancreatic tumors
  • 20 double bypass surgery for advanced pancreatic tumors
  • 20 bile duct resection.
  • 5 cases of resection of liver cyst.
  • 20 cases of resection of pancreatic cysts.
  •  8 cases of resection of bile duct cysts.
  • 40 cases of repair of bile duct injuries referred to the center
  • 75 cases of extraction of bile duct stone
  • 1120 laparoscopic cholecystectomies for GB stones
